Heart of Frame Drumming
November 27 @ 7:00 pm - 9:30 pm
About this Event
Heart of Frame Drumming Introduction.
Join Miranda as she shares her passion for one of the oldest archetypal instruments in the world.
The drum is the echo of the first sound we ever hear, our mothers blood pulsing through her arteries while we were fetus’s in the womb.
RHYTHM GOVERNS ALL OF LIFE.
In ancient times the women were the predominant players, who were a earth honoring society, honoring the cycles of life with rhythm and song.
We will connect in with the symbolic meaning of the drum and it’s connection of the drum strokes to the elements.
We will weave in our voices and commune together in the pulse.
Drumming and chanting is a beautiful marriage and ancient practice, it is a reclaiming of this ancient instrument as a sacred tool of remembrance.
We not only hold a drum, we hold all that it represents. Each stroke is connected to the elements as passed down from Layne from Hamza El Din, a renown Nubian musician, singer and frame drummer.
Through rhythm and chant we honor the Mother, the Earth, the elementals and the cycles of life.
In dedication to the late Layne Redmond and to the ancient women frame drum priestesses referred to as Melissa (Bee in Greek)and Deborah (Bee in Hebrew).
We will learn the names of the strokes, how to play each one and learn simple patterns.
