September 24 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm
About this Event
In this talk, Dr. Celisa Flores will explore the potentials of psychedelic treatments within the context of substance use disorders. Early reports from the CDC indicate as much as a 13% change in those reporting starting or increasing substance use during the COVID-19 pandemic. As alcohol, tobacco, and other addictive substances can decrease the immune response, it becomes even more essential to consider the risk of substance use disorders during a pandemic. Join this discussion on current understanding and uses of psychedelics for substance use disorders and directions for the future.
Dr. Celisa Flores has worked as a therapist, program director, and clinical outreach professional in a wide variety of mental health and substance use disorder treatment setting since obtaining a Master’s in 2007 and Doctorate in 2013. Additional training as a yoga and meditation facilitator, as well as doula, she has been able to draw from a variety of modalities to support self-empowerment and recovery.
Her role has included national and international training and speaking engagements on eating disorders, mindfulness, yoga, body acceptance, and professional wellness, as well as facilitating psychedelic integration groups with PsychedeLiA in Orange County, CA and online.
